Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She joined NBC News Washington two years later as general reporter. In 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988, she became chief congressional reporter. She was made chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell was a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debates with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for her journalism achievements, such as her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell reported on in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Her reporting included a number of crucial stories such as the Iran-Contra controversy, tax and budget reforms in addition to the arms control. She traveled extensively with President Reagan during summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
