She's covered sports for several of the biggest outlets around the globe. She spent almost a decade reporting on the sport for The Washington Post, including tennis, football, and basketball. Nichols joined ESPN from 2004. She spent nine years there, earning two Emmy Awards. She also featured on the most watched programs on ESPN such as SportsCenter or NFL Countdown. She also did Monday Night Football coverage as an official reporter was a an integral part of her job for the network. After that, she joined CNN as well as Turner Sports. Unguarded was a program that she produced and hosted, was telecast each one week at CNN International. More than a billion people watched the program across the world. Nichols reported on NBA shows on TNT, including the regular season, playoffs and All-Star broadcasts. Nichols also worked for TBS covering baseball and golf broadcasts as well as Final Four broadcasts on CBS. In the 42 year history of the award, this was the only time women were among the 200+ nominees.
